Hartford Duck Pin

Highland Lanes Hartford, a duck pin bowling alley in the basement of a building in the West End of Hartford on Farmington Avenue, will close soon unless a buyer can be found. (Korky Vann, kvann@courant.com / June 14, 2012)

I was asked to post comments remove from the Hartford Courant web page as the Farmington Ave Business Alliance didn't want you to see.

The West End is on it's way out and has become another dangerous place in Hartford. The Farmington Ave Business Alliance has made one bad decision after another and now business are leaving, and so are long time residents, being replaced by low income and section eight, so this doesn't surprise me. One drive to the area and it's like "lets get out of here". Anyone who would have a business in Hartford including the West End should get physiological testing to see what is wrong with them. The West End is a loser and the Farmington Ave Business Alliance are losers, beware of them. Why don't they take money out of their houses and they buy the place if it's such a good deal. Oh that's right, they may lose their house if it doesn't go well, so let's trick some else to do it and we take the credit. Best year $125,000.00 gross (wonder what the average year was) less rent, taxes, insurance, payroll, electricity, heat, long hours, you should walk away with like $6.50 hour for all you hard work and headache. Check off another ruined life by the FABA.

Farmington Ave and Sission Ave

This is what Hartford's West End now looks like. Any wonder why business and restaurants don't want to locate here. Once a nice friendly place, now you take your life in your hands when you come here. It has become a dirty, dangerous place, second only to Hartford's North End. As more and more homes are converted to section 8 around the business district and long time residents move away the crime steadily rises, the Farmington Ave Business Alliance (what a joke) does little, and city of Hartford turn a blind eye. Living with eyes closed, misunderstanding all they see, is there moto.

Let me get this straight . . .

We're going to be "gifted" with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and fined if we don't,

Which purportedly covers at least ten million more people, without adding a single new doctor, but provides for 16,000 new IRS agents to administer the plan, written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that didn't read it but exempted themselves from it,

signed by a President who smokes, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, for which we'll be taxed for four years before any "benefits" take effect, by a government which has already bankrupted Social Security and Medicare, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's broke.

What the hell could
possibly go wrong?
